If you ask me for one instruction about food that will dramatically improve your health. Here it is:
It is more powerful to be for something than against something.
Determine what you consider healthy and delicious and how often it is manageable for you to eat. If you keep eating healthy delicious options throughout the day, you are not likely to eat junk or overeat.
It takes a little bit of planning, but it is completely worth it. Stock your pantry, fridge and your purse with healthy snacks for any cravings. That is the key. And I will give you lots of suggestions.
Here are the simple rules that will make nutrition your support.
- Always have breakfast within the first hour of waking up
- Eat every 3 hours a choice of healthy protein, carbs and fats
Keeping a steady level of blood sugar will significantly reduce stress and anxiety
- Eat more in the beginning of the day
Nobody can be perfect all the time, so if 80% of the time you eat healthy nutritious food that's enough. That's sustainable.
I really recommend having a food journal at least for a week to detect any patterns and see how you can improve. Don't forget to include the reason for eating. It can be "social, bored, happy, sad" etc. Notice what it is for you.
